DREAM ORGANS
JULIAN RHODES' IMAGINARY ORGANS

CHRIST CHURCH
ST. LEONARDS

Christ Church

I: CIRCA 1905

A dream liturgical organ for this cavernous building. It shows the influence of Hope-Jones in several ways, and is a modern interpretation of the romantic zenith of British organ-building.

II: CIRCA 1940

This stoplist takes the extant Willis III organ as a model, incorporating many of its details, but with a quite different result.

The main body of the organ would be placed on the west gallery, as with the extant organ; the Echo section would be placed to the south of the altar, where the organ formerly stood.

III: CIRCA 2000

A contemporary stoplist. As in the previous scheme, the main body of the organ would be placed on the west gallery, and the Altar section would be placed to the south of the altar.

The omission of Pedal upperwork is quite deliberate.
