DREAM ORGANS
On a recent visit to the Hofkirche I found a looming organ-case on the west gallery.
There is a gleaming 32ft. front of silver pipes set in a monumental dark wood facade; a small
positive case stands at the front of the gallery. This too played its part in determining my
imaginary stoplist. Certain details from past and present Swiss organs are also included.
The illustration shows a view of Lucerne by an unknown artist, 1825. It suggested a
stoplist for a 'symbolic' organ which, in its structure, reflects the scene including
the Hofkirche, town, and surrounding country.
