DREAM ORGANS
This mandala-shaped arena has always fascinated me. That its continentally inspired,
high-Victorian organ by Father Willis should have been altered beyond recognition in the
1920s is a great loss. My scheme, of a similar size to the present instrument, is a new vision
of a five-manual organ for this great hall. I imagine this instrument being laid out on two
levels. The lower level has Great at the front left and Positive at the front right, with
Swell and Pedal behind. The upper level has Grand in the centre with four Bombarde stops
above; Recit is behind, with Choir to the left and Solo to the right. The horizontal
Bombarde reeds are displayed in the front of the case.
