The organ is divided on the west gallery, with the console on the south side. The two 'cases' are by Romilly B. Craze, and merely screen the rather sprawling contents of the instrument from the sight of people in the nave of the building. The illustration is taken from the west gallery looking towards the east end.The Swell Trompette and Pedal Open Diapason were donated in 1940 by the then-organist, Allan Biggs.
Since 1986 Patrick Christian (Hove) has done work to the organ including regulation of the Great and Swell heavy-pressure reeds, releathering, replacing console electrics (there is now a multi-channel combination system) and the conversion of the 'infinite speed and gradation' swell pedals to the standard balanced kind. An appeal is currently (March 2000) underway for the complete restoration of the organ, which is in poor overall condition, though mostly playable.
