The Bourdon unit was to be placed under the stage, on electro-pneumatic action.

The Orlo on Solo was inspired by Spanish instruments in Mexico, and particularly by Fisk's visits to the organs at the cathedral in Mexico City. At the time he believed that 'Orlo' was a register comprising several ranks of horizontal reeds.

Fisk's scheme was designed to be economical yet suitable for use with a full symphony orchestra. As is well known, the contract went to Ruffatti who, in 1984, built an organ with 119 stops on five manuals.
